The New Calibre App is LIVE

We are excited to announce we have released our brand new Calibre App.  It is available now in both the Apple and Google Play stores.  This is not an upgrade, it is new from the ground up and is a major improvement for all our users.

    How it works

    Know your data.

No more guessing—just real, measurable insight.

Calibre is the first wearable built to democratize access to high-quality respiratory and metabolic data. Using gold-standard breath calorimetry, it tracks oxygen intake, CO₂ output, breath volume, rate, and flow. With over 20 biometrics delivered in real-time to your app, you no longer have to estimate energy burn or metabolic state. Whether you're optimizing performance or health, Calibre puts precision data in your hands—anytime, anywhere.

    Observe the trends.

Track progress. Spot patterns. Take control.

Collecting data is just the start. Calibre enables you to log, categorize, and review sessions over time so you can understand how your body responds to training, recovery, nutrition, and stress. Instead of relying on averages or assumptions, you’ll see how each factor influences your metabolism and fitness levels. Compare day-to-day changes or long-term shifts—because what gets measured, gets improved.

    Reach your goals.

Optimize what works. Cut what doesn’t.

Metabolic data is personal—and dynamic. With Calibre’s real-time and historical tracking, you can identify how your physiology shifts under different conditions. Pinpoint when you burn more fat, hit peak VO₂ Max, or recover better. Over time, this clarity helps you fine-tune training, nutrition, and lifestyle habits to accelerate your results—whether you’re training for performance or longevity.

    Why Calibre?

    Issues with traditional metabolic carts

For years, healthcare professionals and athletes relied on metabolic carts to monitor oxygen consumption (VO2), resting metabolic rate (RMR), and other vital metrics. While accurate, these systems are often:

    Expensive:

With prices starting at tens of thousands of dollars, traditional carts are cost-prohibitive for many.

    Complex:

They require extensive calibration and specialized training to use.

    Bulky:

These large devices are only practical in labs or clinics.

    Limited in Scope:

They can’t easily scale to reach broader audiences due to their complexity and high costs.

The most cost-effective solution on the market

Calibre is priced for accessibility. Unlike traditional metabolic carts that can cost over $30,000, the Calibre Biometric Tracker is a fraction of the cost—allowing individuals, coaches, performance labs, researchers and others to access high-quality metabolic analysis without breaking the bank.

    Uncompromised accuracy

Calibre was included in a published study conducted at Maastricht University that was implemented to test the accuracy of multiple respiratory and metabolic devices.

Calibre's acuuracy is matched only by the most expensive lab-grade equipment in the three main catgories - VO2,(Oxygen Volume) VCO2 (Carbon Dioxide Volume) and RER (Respiratory Exchange Ratio).

Calibre protocols: the key to accurate biometric insights

To gain deeper insights into your body's energy use and metabolic efficiency, following a structured protocol is essential. Our scientifically validated VO₂ Max, Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR), and FatOx protocols provide the most accurate, real-time data to help you make informed decisions about your health, training, and nutrition. Whether you're looking to improve endurance, optimize metabolism, enhance recovery, manage weight, or support long-term wellness, these protocols are designed for you.

Choose the one that aligns with your goals and unlock personalized data to take your performance and health to the next level.

    Considerations

Calibre is designed to be used in a controlled environment

Calibre is designed for optimal performance in indoor or controlled environments. Outdoor settings introduce factors that are more challenging to control and tend to interfere with the data being collected.

We do not recommend using calibre in environments colder that 10 degrees Celsius (50 Fahrenheit) as this causes increased condensation which can interfere with the accuracy of the data.

Do not use Calibre with any strong airflow blowing at the mask, such as a fan while riding on a stationary bike. Calibre measures the difference in pressure from the inside of the mask to the outside via the perforations in the har plastic, hence other airflow directed at the mask can disrupt accuracy while using the device.

          Optimal session duration is limited

While longer session durations are generally well within the capabilities of Calibre, we've seen numerous cases – primarily associated with high-intensity exercise – where sensor readings become degraded after approximately 25 minutes. This is due to excessive water buildup (from breath condensation and perspiration) entering the sensing module.

Continued use under these conditions is not recommended. We are working to address this problem, but in the meantime, we recommend limiting high-intensity sessions with Calibre to a maximum of 25 minutes, with the exception of our published protocols. If performing any high-intensity activity, the total session duration (incl. warm-up, cool-down, and moderate-intensity efforts) should not exceed 25 minutes. Moderate-intensity activities (up to about 10 METs or approximately 60 Liters/min breath volume) can be performed for extended periods without any issues.

        Wearing the mask correctly

To ensure proper operation and comfort, position the face piece so it covers your mouth and rests softly underneath the bottom of your nose (without inserting your nose into hole underneath).

It is very important to understand that Calibre is designed to be worn softly touching the face, unlike most all other devices that measure breath which are designed to be fit as tighter the better, our device should be worn loosely, but snug enough that it is not falling away from the face, avoid compressing the face piece too much, as it needs a sufficient interior volume to operate accurately. The face piece should be comfortable and secure, with the straps gently holding it in place.

          Care & cleaning instructions

Do not wash, rinse, or submerge the sensor module, as this could damage the internal electronic components and void the warranty. However, the facepiece/mask and other non-electronic parts are waterproof and washable.

You may clean the facepiece as often as needed, as long as the module is removed. Soap and detergent are safe to use—just be sure to rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reattaching the module.

To prevent water damage and ensure proper functioning, always insert one of the provided silicone plugs into the USB-C port before using your Calibre device. This plug acts as a barrier to safeguard the internal electronics from moisture.

Wipe any excess moisture from the outside of the module before charging, and ensure the module is dry before connecting it to a power source.

         Calibration: Preparing for accurate measurements

Calibre is uniquely designed to calibrate using ambient air, meaning there’s no need for specialty gases or equipment. To begin calibration, simply set the module on a stable surface in the same environment where you'll be testing. It doesn’t matter whether sensor module is snapped in to the mask or on its own — what matters is that it remains untouched and free from airflow.

You should avoid breathing near the device for approximately 30 minutes before calibration. This allows the surrounding air to properly diffuse into the internal sensing chamber. Be sure the space is free of drafts or direct fans to maintain a stable environment.

Once this period has passed, open the app and connect your Calibre device. You’ll be prompted to calibrate — just follow the instructions. During calibration, a soft yellow light will pulse for about 10 seconds. When it stops, your device is fully calibrated and ready for accurate use.

No consumable or replacement parts are needed

There are no consumable or replacement parts needed for Calibre and there is no regular maintenance or servicing required, although we highly recommend you update the firmware anytime we issue one for optimal capabilities.

We issue new firmware updates at no cost and they are available through our app.
